Best Practices for Word: Final Touches

Enter Additional Document Properties Information:

Open PROPERTY box by FILE then PROPERTIES from the main menu.Microsoft Word allows you the opportunity to insert summary information about the document such as author name, date created, and comments. This is entered on the PROPERTIES box.

To access the PROPERTIES box, go to FILE on the main top menu and select PROPERTIES. (If you do not see the PROPERTIES choice, the menu may be compressed. Select the arrow located at the bottom of the menu. This will cause the menu to expand and show all choices available.)

When the PROPERTIES box opens up, there will be navigation tabs at the top. Select the SUMMARY tab. Fill in the Title (what the title of your document is) and the author (who created the document) boxes. You may fill in the additional boxes as well.

SAVE AS before Converting:

Before converting a Microsoft Word Document with the Accessibility Wizard, you will want to do a SAVE AS to save your original work as a .doc file.

The SAVE AS selection is a choice on the FILE menu command located on the main menu at the top of the screen. When you select SAVE AS, a box will pop up asking where you would like to save your file. Select a location that you will remember.

By using the SAVE AS choice, you will not accidentally overwrite your file. Performing a SAVE AS before using the Accessibility Wizard protects your information in case the Wizard crashes or if you wish to finish converting the document at a later time.
